Scholarships
Promising Pathways Scholarships offers funding toward higher education program and degrees, as well as career coaching services, for students who are hard of hearing and students who are single parents. The scholarships are hosted on Bold.org’s platform, which is a secure, online scholarship service that matches students to thousands of scholarships based on the students’ profiles. They streamline and manage the process for both the applicants and scholarship providers; they also distribute the scholarship funds directly to the winners’ schools. Below you will find more information about each scholarship, the requirements, and the links to apply.
Hard of Hearing Scholarship
Attending post-secondary education programs is expensive and challenging for most students. However, research has shown that individuals who are hard of hearing are less likely to enroll and graduate from post-secondary institutions and more likely to have low incomes. In addition, they have additional expenses of costly hearing aids and cochlear implants. This scholarship seeks to support students who are hard of hearing as they pursue and complete college degrees. Ultimately post-secondary education will help lead to jobs with higher wages, a better future, and the ability to afford future hearing devices and medical expenses.
The requirements of this scholarship include: a student who wears a hearing aid or cochlear implant to assist with hearing, is pursuing higher education (including technical programs, two-year college degrees, and four-year college degrees), and has a lower income. To apply, submit your profile and a brief essay that highlights your area of study in school, the obstacles you’ve overcome while attending school as a student who is hard of hearing and the devices and services that have helped you, and your plans and goals are after you finish your degree.

Single Parent Scholarship
College is no doubt expensive and demanding for any student to complete; however, single parents face the unique challenge of pursuing their education while also caring for children. Furthermore, single parents often face financial constraints that make completing a degree even more out of reach. As a result, they are less likely to complete their degrees and the majority have low incomes. Having the financial assistance necessary to afford tuition and earn a diploma can make all the difference by boosting earnings, opening up job opportunities, and creating a better life for oneself and one’s children. This scholarship aims to support low-income single parents who are pursuing higher education (including technical programs, two-year college degrees, and four-year college degrees) while raising children.
The requirements of this scholarship include: a student who is a single parent and has children under the age of 18 living with them most of the week, is pursuing higher education (including technical programs, two-year college degrees, and four-year college degrees), and is low income. To apply, you will submit your profile and a brief essay that highlights your area of study in school, the obstacles you’ve overcome while attending as a single parent, and your plans and goals are after you finish your degree.
